On 30th April 2025, Dr. Uzor Cares Foundation gave succour to Mrs. Nkiruka Okoye from Aguobu Owa in Ezeagu LGA by assisting her and her son (a minor) have a shelter over their heads.
Mrs. Okoye had reached out to the Foundation, sharing her pathetic story of losing her shop at Mayor by Agbani Road and her house at Railway Quarters due to ongoing well-intentioned development by Enugu State Government and has been without living accommodation since the incidents.
Mrs. Okoye disclosed that she has been sleeping outside with her son, facing adverse weather conditions and was in dire need of living accommodation.
Mrs Okoye requested financial assistance of N130,000 (one hundred and thirty thousand naira) to enable her rent a low-cost living accommodation at Phase 6 Extension, Trans-Ekulu Enugu.
At the Foundation’s Office we explained to her that the State Government had embarked on those laudable development projects to make the State better for all and appealed for her understanding of the circumstances given that She was one of the illegal squatters in those ramshackle Shops at Mayor Agbani Road and Residences at Railway quarters.
Regardless, the Foundation was persuaded by the narrative of her daunting challenges to grant her request of N130,000 to enable her rent a low-cost living accommodation.
Barr. Peter Aniagboso, a Trustee of the Foundation, presented the cheque for the said sum to Mrs. Okoye on behalf of the Foundation at the Foundation’s Office on 30th April 2025.
Overcome with emotion, Mrs. Okoye shed tears of joy and prayed for Dr. Uzor Cares Foundation, saying, “God Almighty will continue to bless the body for their selfless service to humanity.”
The ceremony was attended by Hon. Mrs. Uche Eze and Mr. Chijioke Jideofor Foundation’s BOT, Secretary and BOT, Member, respectively.
Dr. Uzor Cares Foundation’s timely intervention has brought relief to Mrs. Okoye and her son, providing them with a chance to rebuild their lives.
The Foundation will follow up this family to help them get a new means of livelihood soon.
