On Thursday, 3rd July 2025, Dr. Uzor Cares Foundation awarded a Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Grant of ₦350,000 (three hundred and fifty thousand naira) to Mr. Ejike Samuel Ifeanyichukwu, a young commercial transport operator from Ozom Aguobu Owa in Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State.
Mr. Ifeanyichukwu had appealed to the Foundation for assistance to repair his commercial vehicle, which had broken down and left him without a source of income. The bus, which he relies on for daily transportation services, is his only means of livelihood and support for his family.
After carefully reviewing his application and considering the economic challenges confronting many households, the Foundation’s Board of Trustees approved the grant to help him carry out the necessary repairs on his bus and return to work.
The Foundation formally presented the cheque to Mr. Ifeanyichukwu during a brief but impactful ceremony, highlighting the importance of supporting small businesses and hardworking individuals committed to honest living.
Speaking at the presentation, Hon. Mrs. Uche Eze, Secretary of the Board of Trustees, said the grant reflects the Foundation’s ongoing mission to empower low-income earners and small-scale entrepreneurs.
“This support is a reaffirmation of our commitment to grassroots empowerment. By helping one person restore their means of income, we are indirectly supporting an entire family and reinforcing dignity in labour,” she said.
Overcome with emotion, Mr. Ifeanyichukwu expressed his deep gratitude to the Foundation for coming to his aid at a critical time.
“I was losing hope. This is more than just a cheque; it is a lifeline. May God bless the Foundation for remembering people like us,” he remarked.
With this intervention, Dr. Uzor Cares Foundation continues to advance its mission of economic empowerment, enabling beneficiaries to rebuild their lives through enterprise and self-sufficiency.
